The change A Concert Can Bring!!

The change A Concert Can Bring!!

With the recently passed economic Slowdown, my brother thought about bringing a hope for the Hopeless by organising a Concert. So he called Bob Fitts, a Singer and guitarist from US. The initiative was taken by HCL (Honouring Christ the Lord). He called the musicians from NLAG (I suppose) and it was successfully conducted on 29th June 2009 at Music Academy, Chennai. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend this concert as i had my extended training's semester like comprehensive test in Infosys Hyderabad. Like all other concerts, they took video from three camera.

To The Community!!

With the topic of Restore 2009, the concert restored the hope among many corporate individuals. My brother encountered a lot of problems while organising for this concert including financial problems. But Our Lord and Saviour Jesus was able to meet all the needs. Thanks to the prayers. I believe the concert would have touched the hearts of many. If you have found some hope after attending this concert, please post the testimony as part of the comments.

To My computer!!

A few days after the concert my brother told me that he is planning to buy a new HDD as the previous 160 GB HDD was in no way useful. He decided to buy 1.5 TB HDD as the entire video from 3 camera and the 8 sources of audio alone took about 250 GB. The price of this 1.5 TB HDD was 7.5k. I still believe that even this 1.5 TB HDD will not meet the requirements for editing the video. And now to edit the audio he needs an Audio card. In my motherboard, Thankfully I had him purchased a 2GB RAM totalling to 4 GB RAM and a 8600 GTX 512 MB GPU last year. Otherwise, he would have bought that also. This up gradation costs nearly 15k.

Last year I compiled a video of my college life from clips captured from mobile, digital cameras. I got a GPU, and 2GB ram from my friends to compile it. After many unsuccessful attempts, I was able to make a video of about 6 minutes with the size of 12.6 GB. It consumed another 30 GB for other intermediate edits. I had to allocate an entire drive for this purpose. For those who wish to see that not so good college video, click here.

The Auction

We often used to ignore the Roadside vendors who try to sell foodstuffs and other items. Many times we just ignore these vendors. And many times we bargain for the price resulting in the much lower profit for them.
Few months back while I was on my way from Bangalore to Mysore, I met with one such vendor who brought about the interest among the purchasers. He was selling clothes. He had a companion to help him with the auction.
This salesman came inside the bus and started an auction. This attracted many of the passengers. He began to demonstrate the quality of the product and started the auction for the clothes from the suitcase which he had. The auctions went on for about 30 minutes are so. He also awarded those who took part in the auction with some petty gifts such as purse. Few people got interested in that auction and started to put forth their price. If he felt that the price wasn’t suitable for the product, give to the candidate who won. And He got down of the bus when he felt that the people lost interest in the auction.

He was able to sell cloths for more than 1000 Rs (total) which would have been a hard time to sell it on the platform. I was quite impressed with such a way of selling. While many of us try to do it in the usual way in which everyone does, this person was a little different by starting the auction.

My journey to Infosys!!!

On Friday evening in early November 2008, I got the call email from Infosys to join on December 15 2008. The following week along with Prashanth, I booked the tickets to go to Mysore on December 13th night at 9:30 pm. After booking the tickets, we were waiting for the train to go to tiruvanmiyur. I made a call to my friend. Then I asked Prashanth for my mobile -thinking I lost it- which was actually in my hand.

Few days later we got the call letter from Infosys in the courier. The day of journey to Mysore came soon. My friend Prashanth visited my house on the day of journey to get the seminar series of Kent Hovind. In evening, we took the taxi to reach central as it was getting late. When I reached the station, everyone had gone to the platform. I don’t remember the platform number. When I reached my compartment, I could see a lot of my friends like Senthur, Viswa, Arun, etc already there for send off. And after bidding heart-breaking adieu, we got into the train.

The train started to Mysore or rather I can call it as the INFOSYS train, as many passengers of that train were for Infosys. We were split into two groups in the compartment because of the seating. We went to sleep at about 12 at night. I was in the middle berth. It became very cold in early morning. Soon we began to shiver. We reached Bangalore at 5:00 Am and it was very cold in Bangalore and we couldn’t stand in the station and rest our hands on any place other than our own pockets. We reached Mysore at about 8:00 am.

We took a taxi to Infosys and reached it at about 9:00. And we were standing outside the gate for verification. We showed the necessary documents. My friend had forgotten to bring his offer letter. The security called the HR and later let my friend in. We almost got the same block with me being lucky getting the ground floor. We were quite lucky to get one of the best hostel blocks in Infosys. After getting ready we started to roam. We were a bit scared whether we might have forgotten some important documents. The first two weeks were quite boring and then the training started.

The first Saturday in Infosys, we went to Mysore palace and Zoo. A few of my friends got sick after the 4 km walk in the Zoo.  The next day, I went to Church along with my friends. I liked the church. And since then, I went to that church every Sunday.

In mid February, we completed the generic training and at the end of the month, I was put into the java Stream; the language which I never liked. Training has been good so far. I hope that I will complete with a grade A. But being here in Infosys, I don’t find any kind of stress or tension even in the least. It’s a very good environment where I always like to be.
